Program areas at World Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation
World Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation is a very unique martial arts organization in that we educate students who practice martial arts in a deeper philosophy of martial arts which guides them to become responsible individuals and creating ideal family thereby making a better society that results in realizing a world of peace. At WTMF we emphasize the importance of philosophy in a way more than actual practice of martial arts. In our view, the philosophy we teach corresponds to human mind and actual practice of martial arts corresponds to human body. Body cannot function without mind. Based on this understanding, WTMF offers lectures of our philosophy to all participants of our events. We invite students of martial arts from any schools to our events to share our philosophy with them and hopefully work together to start building a better world. Year 2022 was another unprecedented year. Due to on-going COVID-19, we were forced to reduce our regular activities. Though some in-person activities increased many chapters around the world continued online meetings and trainings. The followings are the activities we performed in-person:1. 120 Day Instructor Training Workshop at International Peace Leadership College, Philippines from August 1 to November 31, 2022. 15 participants from throughout the Philippines participated.2. World Martial Arts Congress Exhibition in Seoul, South Korea from October 18 to 21. 370 participants from 26 nations representing various martial arts traditions participated. Martial artists of Tong-Il Moo-Do participated in this event representing Tong-Il Moo-Do.3. Mombasa International Open Tournament in Mombasa, Kenya from December 16 to 17150 participated from 15 nations. This event was sponsored by the Kenyan government and it granted us to hold this large-size indoor event. More than 700 people watched the event for two day and received a wide range of media coverage including local TV news. There are two kinds of participants to our program. One is those who are practicing martial arts and the other is those who are not practicing it but interested in watching martial arts matches. For the former, we offer various events in which they can compete against each other. At the same time, for the latter the same events can be the opportunities to watch and enjoy many highly skilled martial artists showing their skills and techniques. These events will well serve as a vehicle to demonstrate not only technical aspects but also the beauty of martial arts to the spectators. We also offer lectures of philosophy of Tong-Il Moo-Do. It starts with mind-body unity to perfect our individuality. It then emphasizes these individuals are the ones who can serve as the citizens of world peace. Overall, there were about 800 individuals benefitted from the above events.
