Program areas at Boston Court Pasadena

In The 2022 fiscal year, Boston Court Pasadena (bcp) produced or presented 79 events, serving 3,475 individuals. Bcp also featured 20 live artistic presentations, ranging from readings of new plays in development to fully produced concerts. Theatrical programming included one full stage production marking The company's return to live programming and Boston Court's 37th world premiere, both anda play about laughing while black. The year also included, four play readings as part of The 18th annual new play reading festival, virtual readings of The second annual playwrights' group and The first ever teen playwrighting initiative that is planned to continue an annual basis. The concert series featured seven concerts offered in person. Boston Court was also able to continue its access to a virtual cinema series through our partnership with national Theatre live and byexperience. In 2022, 385 free or reduced-price tickets were distributed.
Typically, main stage productions are new works or re-envisioned classics, passionate, artist-driven plays that open minds and hearts, and urge artists to fearlessly and passionately pursue their unique voice and vision. Concerts span a variety of genres including classical, jazz, contemporary, world music, choral and more. Music artists range across all levels of their career, from established professionals to emerging artists, and are encouraged to perform works that are experimental and/or completely new. Art upfront highlights local artists that explore themes connected to The music and Theatre programming, bringing The conversation beyond The performance space.
As bcp continued to dig out from The pandemic, they returned to live programming while still making impacts in The community. Bcp continued its relationship with local organizations such as hood liberation, side street, mytribe rise, altadena public library, and The lightbringer project offering co-sponsored film festivals, printmaking workshops, and many other events to The community of Pasadena. Bcp also hosted The brightworks new music initiative for high school composers and 2022 also marked The beginning of teen night, a partnership with teentix that allows young people to see performances for free or reduced price all over The city of los angeles. Both of these events are part of bcp's desire to grow The next generation of artists and they hope that these events and partnerships will continue in coming years. Lastly, The organization again participated in The annual Pasadena art night, this year welcoming more than 300 people in one evening.
