ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL OF THE HOSPITAL SISTERS HEALTH SYSTEM OF THE THIRD ORDER OF ST. FRANCIS PROVIDES QUALITY MEDICAL HEALTHCARE REGARDLESS OF RACE, CREED, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN, HANDICAP, AGE OR ABILITY TO PAY. ALTHOUGH, REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVICES RENDERED IS CRITICAL TO THE OPERATION AND STABILITY OF ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL, IT IS RECOGNIZED THAT NOT ALL INDIVIDUALS POSSESS THE ABILITY TO PURCHASE ESSENTIAL MEDICAL SERVICES. THIS FURTHERS OUR MISSION TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY WITH RESPECT TO PROVIDING HEALTH CARE SERVICES AND HEALTHCARE EDUCATION. THEREFORE, IN KEEPING WITH THIS HOSPITAL'S COMMITMENT TO SERVE ALL MEMBERS OF ITS COMMUNITY: - CARE IS PROVIDED TO PERSONS COVERED BY GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS AT OR BELOW COST, - HEALTH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY, WILL BE CONSIDERED WHERE THE NEED AND/OR AN INDIVIDUAL'S INABILITY TO PAY COEXISTS. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WELLNESS PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS, SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR THE ELDERLY, AND A VARIETY OF BROAD COMMUNITY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES. HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Highland, provides proven-effective care to more than 35,000 residents in portions of Madison county and surrounding communities. St. Joseph's Hospital combines state-of-the-art technologies with highly trained and experienced staff to meet the changing health care needs of local residents. St. Joseph's Hospital reveals and embodies Christ's healing love to its patients through a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services including surgery, specialty clinics, rehab, digital imaging, laboratory, wound care, cancer care, sleep center, and community health and education outreach programs. Surgery Center The SJH surgical teams work together, using the latest technology and modern facilities to provide excellent care close to home. These highly trained and experienced surgeons represent a wide range of specialties. The SJH Surgery Center features 12 private rooms for patients before and after surgery and for outpatient procedures, as well as 25% larger operating suites with the latest technology. This includes new high-definition video cameras for arthroscopic and laparoscopic procedures. During FY2022, 1,788 cases were performed. Rehabilitation SJH rehabilitation Services are committed to patients return to the most fulfilling, independent life possible. SJH expert physicians, nurses, therapists and home health professionals are dedicated and compassionate individuals who are also highly experienced in rehabilitation and the most advanced therapies available. Each of them works closely with you patients and their loved ones to ensure that patients have the care they need. During FY2022, our staff provided 42,318 physical therapy sessions. Imaging Services The SJH Medical Imaging Center ensures patient comfort and accurate test results. SJH imaging suites and patient prep areas have been thoughtfully designed to enhance patient experience with more comfort and privacy, too. SJH values uses technological advancements and efficiencies, while keeping individual care and respect at the forefront of every visit. During FY2022, 26,914 imaging tests were given. Laboratory Services SJH provides high quality, accurate and timely diagnostic pathology and laboratory services for hospital patients, outpatients and outreach patients in community physicians' offices. This full service laboratory has a highly skilled team of board certified pathologists and other lab professionals who participate in continuing education on a regular basis. During FY2022, 153,507 lab tests were performed. Wound Care Center SJH's Wound Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. With state-of-the-art treatments available, including debridement, dressing selection, special shoes and patient education, people with non-healing and chronic wounds now have a place to turn. During FY2022, 5,823 wound care patients were seen. Sleep Center Services SJH's Sleep Center is an accredited center that provides sleep testing for infants, children and adults. During FY2022, 278 sleep patients were seen. ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL PROVIDES CARE TO PERSONS COVERED BY GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS AT OR BELOW COST, RECOGNIZING ITS MISSION TO THE COMMUNITY, SERVICES PROVIDED ARE PROVIDED TO BOTH MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PATIENTS. TO THE EXTENT REIMBURSEMENT IS BELOW COST, ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL RECOGNIZES THESE AMOUNTS AS CHARITY CARE IN MEETING ITS MISSION TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. ST. JOSEPH PROVIDED CHARITY THROUGH MANY REDUCED PRICE SERVICES AND FREE PROGRAMS OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BASED UPON ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES WHICH ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL BELIEVES WILL SERVE A BONA FIDE COMMUNITY HEALTH NEED. THESE INCLUDE: - PREPARING MEALS FOR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS WHO WERE UNABLE TO PREPARE A MEAL FOR THEMSELVES DUE TO THEIR MEDICAL CONDITION. THESE MEALS WERE PROVIDED AT A MINIMAL SUBSIDIZED FEE. - GENERAL INFORMATION REFERRAL SERVICES AND CRISIS INTERVENTION IS OFFERED BY THE SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT. - PROVIDING MEETING FACILITIES TO VARIOUS HEALTH RELATED ORGANIZATIONS. - SPONSORING AN ANNUAL HEALTH FAIR FOR THE COMMUNITY. - PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED AT NO COST. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, MANY INDIVIDUALS - MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES - FROM OPERATING ENGINEERS UNION - LOCAL #520 HAVE ATTENDED A HEALTH FAIR SPONSORED BY ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL IN HIGHLAND. EVERY YEAR, LOCAL #520 MEMBERS HAVE RECEIVED INEXPENSIVE OR FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS AND PICKED UP INFORMATION WITH TIPS ON HOW TO STAY WELL. AMONG A VARIETY OF SERVICES OFFERED TO ATTENDEES AT THIS HEALTH FAIR INCLUDE: COMPREHENSIVE BLOOD SCREENINGS THIS SCREENING INCLUDES A BLOOD CHEMISTRY PANEL, CORONARY RISK PROFILE INCLUDING HDL AND LDL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS AND A COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT. PROSTATIC SPECIFIC ANTIGEN ("PSA") SCREENINGS THIS SCREENING IS OFFERED TO MEN WHO RECEIVE THE COMPREHENSIVE BLOOD SCREENING. ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL WILL ALSO BE PARTNERING WITH THE MADISON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT ("MCHD") TO OFFER VOUCHERS TO COVER THE COST OF THE PSA FOR MEN WHO MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA. CAUCASIAN MEN AGES 50-64, AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN MEN AGES 40-64, WHO ARE UNINSURED, UNDERINSURED, OR HAVE CATASTROPHIC COVERAGE ONLY CAN OBTAIN A VOUCHER FROM THE MADISON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT AT THE HEALTH FAIR TO COVER THE COST OF THE PSA. ADDITIONAL SERVICES/SCREENINGS OFFERED INCLUDE: - HEARING - VISION - NUTRITION COUNSELING - FLU SHOTS - DISTRIBUTION OF GENERAL HEALTH INFORMATION
