Schenectady County Chapter Nysarc was founded in 1949 to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Day services - supervised instructional programs to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities with a focus on social and life skills. 180 persons served.
Article 16 clinic - clinical services including psychiatric and rehabiliation care for developmentally disabled individuals. 230 persons served.
Transportation - provides transportation to developmentally disabled individuals in the community to and from services and for other non-profit organizations.
Supported employment - job coaching for developmentally disabled individuals with real world experience with a goal for unsupervised work habits.
Other services - provides training, transportation, and other services for other non-profit organizations.
Self-direction - allows individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to accept responsibility for co-management of their supports and services.
