Program areas at Kitten Krazy
Adoption center - Kitten Krazy was formed in May 2004 to help the lost, abandoned, stray and unwanted cats & kittens in Medina County & the surrounding communities to find a place of refuge until adoption. Cats are fully vetted within hours, with the exception of spay/neutering, which is scheduled within the 14 day quarantine to ensure they are healthy enough for surgery. Once cats are deemed healthy, they are placed in a free-roaming adoption room, where the goal is to find them a new forever home. Since we are a private shelter, we do not qualify for government funding at the local, state of federal levels. Instead we rely on our adoption fees, fundraising and the generosity of our corporate and individual donors to help us with our mission to end the homelessness and abuse of cats and kittens.
Fundraising & Gaming - To raise additional funds, Kitten Krazy hosts events, such as a car show, family fun day, and other fun activities to attract people to the shelter (such as off site adoption events).
Kristen Sheats was hired as our full time Shelter Manager in August 2020. This decision was made to aid Wendy Mirrotto, Founder and Executive Director, in the management of the cat shelter, while Wendy manages other fundraising and administrative aspects of the business. Wendy continues to defer most or all of her salary to help decrease expenses. One part time employee was hired in the summer to help Wendy clear the warehouse and maintain merchandise. We also continue to have one part time employee answering the phones and performing adoptions two days a week. All other help is on a volunteer basis.
