The Sand Point Elementary PTA granted funds to Seattle Public Schools to help fund a 1 O art teacher Each classroom has art for 1 hour per week. The PTA chose to grant the money to the school district so that a fully certified teacher could be hired and allow the classroom teachers to use their art time for planning The PTA also supplements any art materials that are used by the students during art Class oon eeeeeee cee ee ene eee ec cee nnn nnn e eee nee nee e renee
Last year, Sand Point Elementary chose to use an alternative math curriculum than the one that was being supplied and offered by Seattle Public Schools The PTA purchased this curriculum which consisted of learning and teaching guides for the teachers student workbooks both for school and home, as well as, a comprehensive online assessment tool for the teachers which would help them identify when students needed extra help and which tools to use to help fillin the gaps Unfortunatley, our teachers were unable access the online portion of the teaching materials resulting in a refund of
Sand Point Elementary has a very diverse population with 40% free and reduced lunch This means thata little under half of our population 1s in need of government resources and charitable donations to sustain even the most basic needs of living The Sand Point Elementary PTA has granted the Seattle Public School District funds to help provide a1OFamily Support Worker who directly works with these vulnerable families and helps them get the resources they need
