Positive Impact was founded in 1993 by a group of committed community leaders who believed that the impact of HIV on the mental health status of individuals warranted special attention.

Program areas at PIHC

Psychotherapeutic services and counseling - the mental health team served 291 clients affected by hiv by providing professional psychotherapeutic services and counseling to low income individuals and their families in the metropolitan atlanta area. 291 clients participated in 2,732 individual sessions and 18 clients participated in 117 group sessions.
Substance abuse treatment program: the addiction treatment team served 43 clients with addiction treatment services by an intensive outpatient program or continuing care program. 9 clients participated in 19 individual intensive outpatient sessions and 43 clients participated in 2,189 group sessions.
Prevention program: the prevention team administered 4,750 hiv tests, identified 152 new hiv cases, conducted 2,316 sti screenings, linked 157 hiv-positive persons to medical care, and provided risk reduction counseling to 4,763 clients.
