NextGen Climate America is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to creating a level playing field so that low-carbon advanced energy solutions can fairly compete with entrenched fossil fuel interests. Launched in 2014, they develop and advance policies to prevent climate disaster and promote prosperity for every American. To end the free ride that fossil fuel companies enjoy at their expense, they are committed to establishing national safeguards to end the unlimited dumping of carbon pollution into their atmosphere and supporting innovative leadership at the state level.

Program areas at NextGen Policy

California policynextgen Policy provided Policy analysis and public education around public Policy proposals during the 2022 legislative session. Nextgen Policy's work focuses mainly on the key issue areas of Climate, income inequality, criminal justice reform, higher education, healthcare, food and housing insecurity, and inclusive democracy. In addition, Nextgen Policy staff wrote the following 2022 reports analyzing state budget investments in California's Climate commitment: "from luxury to necessity: building for Climate action", "the 2022 may budget revision", and "the $54 billion California Climate commitment". Additionally, together with compton college, Nextgen Policy established a case study: every student is a success story: basic needs innovation at compton college. Nextgen Policy staff also authored the automatic voter registration report and participated in a corresponding webinar to explain how avr can expand access to democracy.
Administrative and support services / fiscal sponsorship arrangementsnextgen Policy also provides administrative and support services to other nonprofit organizations. Nextgen Policy works with these organizations to increase their ability to provide financial and programmatic support in areas consistent with Nextgen Policy's mission.
