Program areas at New Horizons Senior Center

New horizon Senior Center has provided stimulating, nurturing and progressive programming for active adults in and around lower merion township for over forty years. We currently serve over 1,000 unduplicated seniors. Nhsc's rich and varied programs fit into four broad categories (recreation & socialization, education, health & wellness, and supportive services) and are carefully designed to foster all aspects of wellness for seniors. Nhsc has a unique and successful volunteer-led program model which helps many of our own seniors to find meaning and purpose in retirement. They greatly enhance our capacity to serve! During this fiscal year, nhsc provided safe, "grab and go" nutritious lunches for Senior citizens (age 60+) free of charge or by a "pay if they can" anonymous donation. During the on-going pandemic, we have offered a robust array of our programs remotely. We continue this safe modality as part of our service delivery. We provide a full array of remote programs and services -from computer tech support, Aging support groups and private counseling, to book, discussion, and exercise groups. Staff and volunteers quickly re-deployed to maximize our capacity to provide remote support and train our seniors to participate. in addition to adding our well utilized grab and go meals program we have built safe hybrid programming (combining in-person, masked participation with broadcast to those seniors prefer to participate more safely from their homes.)
