Program areas at Associated Builders and Contractors - Metropolitan Wash Chapter
Government affairs - activities include the following: encourage, develop and protect the building and construction industry. Promote confidence and goodwill within the building and construction industry and between this industry and the general public. Provide legislative activities updates. Perpetuate and defend the free enterprise system and merit shop philosophy by participating in the democratic process. Promote for mutual benefit majority, women and minority members.
Education and training - activities include the following: promote and encourage continuing education, and other training programs for management within the construction industry. Promote safety and training within the construction industry. Provide excellence in construction awards on an annual basis to recognize and celebrate outstanding projects built by Washington area abc members. Provide Chapter safety awards which recognize companies for their meritorious safety performance each year. Abc's accredited quality contractor program publicly recognizes and honors those construction firms that have undergone a rigorous process to document their commitment in training, community relations, employee benefits, and safety.
Meetings and special events - activities include the following: organize and promote meetings, seminars, conferences, publications and other media of all kinds in order to maintain a well-informed industry and general public. Organize meetings and events for Builders, general Contractors, specialty Contractors, suppliers, and related groups of all kinds in order to encourage the free interchange of views and techniques and to facilitate the accomplishment of the primary objective of the association. Promote other activities and services that benefit the membership, further the objectives of abc, and promote the principles of the merit shop, open competition and free enterprise. Communicate the services and benefits of membership and encourage member participation and involvement in the association.
