Program areas at MHASWNJ

Parent advocates - a support service for family members accompanying loved ones to psychiatric screening centers. Our trained advocates carefully explain the screening process and the resources that are available to them and their loved ones.
Supported education - the learn is a supported education program offered to individual with serious Mental illness living in burlington, camden, and gloucester counties who wish to enroll in an educational setting. Services include but are not limited to: assistance in applying to schools, applying for financial aid, selecting and registering for courses, requesting reasonable accommodations, study skills, coaching and developing linkages to existing supports and resources.
Self help and wellness center- a consumer based resource center located in camden that offers wellness and recovery groups, community outreach/resources, Health education, computer stations, and social/recreational activities.
Community outreach- provides symposiums and workshops featuring local and national experts are presented throughout the year to increase the clinical knowledge and understanding of Mental illness among Mental Health providers and Mental Health consumers, as well as educators, clergy, corporate leaders and law enforcement officers. Community outreach also includes "being there" which is a classroom presentation designed to increase students' awareness and understanding of Mental illness. A young adult who lives with a Mental illness and a facilitator engage students in an informative dialogue that focuses on the symptoms and treatment of Mental illness, as well as the impact of stigma.crisis intervention team (cit)-the crisis intervention team (cit) program is an innovative national model of police based crisis intervention with community healthcare and advocacy partnerships. Police officers, Mental Health knowledge, crisis resolution skills and access to community based services throughout New jersey.the gathering- a weekly support program for chronically mentally ill residents of camden county boarding homes that provides socialization and recreational opportunities for the residents.the camden work experience rehabilitation & collaborative services (camwercs) - program offers teens and young adults living with Mental illness, the opportunity to explore vocational interests. Counseling workshops, field trips and part time employment offer participants work-readiness skills that will serve them throughout their careers.self help and wellness center- a consumer based resource center located in camden that offers wellness and recovery groups, community outreach/resources, Health education, computer stations, and social/recreational activities.supported employment - camden county adults with chronic Mental illness are welcome to access pre-employment counseling, vocational assessment, job development and a support system to ensure success in the workplace.
