Patient care (see schedule o)patient care:mayo Clinic Health System is a family of clinics, hospitals and Health care facilities serving communities in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Georgia. As part of Mayo Clinic, the Health System offers care designed for the whole body close to the patient's home, when they need it. A multidisciplinary team of experts has ready access to knowledge, resources, and expertise of Mayo Clinic and collaborates on providing exactly the care the patient needs. Mayo Clinic Health System sites employ approximately 1,000 physicians and 15,000 allied Health staff. In addition, Mayo Clinic physicians from multiple specialties regularly see patients at Health System facilities. Besides having Health care facilities in nearly 70 communities, Mayo Clinic Health System includes 19 owned hospitals, five owned nursing homes, physician service agreements with one additional hospital, and contract management agreements with two additional hospitals and one nursing home. Since its inception in 1992, Mayo Clinic Health System has grown into one of the most successful regional Health care systems in the united states. More than 600,000 unique patients account for more than 2.6 million visits annually in Mayo Clinic Health System. It is also a national leader in quality and safety efforts. Mchs - New Prague had 736 admissions and had 152 births in 2014.outpatient Clinic services: a total of 60,000 outpatient registrations were recorded, including lab, radiology, specialty Clinic visits, therapy, sleep studies, and ambulatory surgeries. There were 6,800 patients seen in the emergency department.medical staff: mchs - New Prague has active medical staff which consists of family practice, women's Health, internal medicine, pediatric physicians, er physicians and a general surgeon. Consulting specialists include allergy, cardiology, oral/maxillofacial surgery, ent gastroenterology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, ob/gyn, ophthalmology, pulmonology, radiology/tele-radiology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, urology, dentistry, and podiatry.uncompensated care: mchs - New Prague provides care to persons covered by governmental programs. Services are provided to both medicare and medicaid patients at substantial discounts from standard fees. Mchs - New Prague is designated as a critical access hospital and is reimbursed based on its cost of providing services for hospital medicare patients.charity care is also provided for patients that are financially unable to pay for services provided. The cost of charity care provided in 2014 was approximately $207,200.the cost of uncompensated care in 2014 provided to other governmental and low income patients through medicaid was approximately $2,230,000. This amount includes the medicaid surcharge and minnesotacare tax (a program that provides Health care for low income populations). The amount of the medicaid surcharge and minnesotacare tax paid in 2014 was $246,044 and $342,441, respectively.the cost of uncompensated care provided through medicare was approximately $800,600.mchs - New Prague also provides discounts to uninsured patients. The total discounts given in 2014 were $60,000.the hospital auxiliary operates under mchs-new Prague's tax exempt status. The auxiliary's main sources of income are the operation of a gift shop and fundraising.the auxiliary and its volunteers have enhanced the environment and services offered to patients, visitors & staff of the hospital. Auxiliary members contribute thousands of hours of service each year. The major services provided by auxiliary member volunteers is the gift shop, patronized by patients, visitors making purchases for patients, and employees contributes importantly to our exempt function by improving physical comfort and mental well being of its patients.during 2014, approximately 99 volunteers donated approximately 7,637 hours of volunteer service. The value of this service based on the independent sector's value of volunteer time is approximately $176,200.
Queen's court: queen's court is a senior housing facility located adjacent to the hospital in New Prague. Currently, there are 16 units available for rent and a section of the building is used for Mayo Clinic Health System administrative services.
Community benefit (see schedule o)community benefit:community education: mchs - New Prague community education provided classes and support groups on the topics of childbirth, breastfeeding, sibling acceptance of a newborn, cpr, first aid, senior Health, diabetes, preventing falls, flu, colon cancer, stress management, women's heart Health, weight loss, pre-diabetes, obesity, nutrition, hip and knee replacement options, nursing care in crisis situations, grief support, cancer support, and hospital services. Mchs - New Prague also provided tours, hosted a job shadow experience for students and internships. Community education provides monthly physician education as well as clinical in-services for hospital and Clinic staff and other community healthcare providers.emt education: in partnership with area volunteer police, fire and ambulance, emt's are trained annually at mchs - New Prague. These volunteers provide emergency transport services in the communities of New Prague, le center, le sueur, montgomery, lonsdale, New market, elko, shakopee and belle plaine. "the fitness center" combines outpatient rehabilitation services with a community fitness center. The fitness center had an average of approximately 1,200 fitness memberships. A weight loss program was sponsored by the center. The outpatient rehabilitation department is able to provide multidisciplinary care involving physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Athletic trainers provide services for student athletes within area school districts. The fitness center participates in silver sneakers', the nation's leading exercise program for medicare eligible beneficiaries. Strength, range of motion and yoga classes are offered. Because one-third of u.s. children are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight, the fitness center sponsors the fit kids program. The fit kids program is an active lifestyle program conducted in all 4th grade classes in the district. This encompasses students in 13 classrooms between 4 schools. This program is designed to improve children's awareness about the importance of eating healthy, decreasing sedentary time and increasing physical activity.mchs - New Prague provides in kind support to the peace center. The peace center is a food distribution center serving individuals in New Prague and the surrounding area. Founded in 1983 and located on the campus of mchs - New Prague, the peace center serves the community by helping nearly 5,000 individuals per year with their everyday needs. Mchs - New Prague provides personnel, administrative, finance, and other support to the peace center.
