Program areas at Maine Mineral and Gem Museum
The mission of the mmgm, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is to celebrate the mineralogy of Maine and to enlighten visitors as to the origin of earth and beyond through dynamic exhibits, educational programming and scientific research.
Mmgm hosted 17,500 visitors and provided free admission via community days to 1500 residents. 15 educational presentations and 7 travelling exhibits reached over 100,000. The research lab hosted 6 college interns and contributed 7 research papers and publications to the scientific community. Volunteers logged over 1900 hours providing educational tours and programs.
