Program areas at Ian Somerhalder Foundation
General grants program: $25,000 grant to the little farm of ojaia farm rescue dedicated to helping creatures who need it most. The funds were planned to go towards the building of two very essential barns. A horse barn to safely house all 16 of their horses and donkeys and a second barn that will house their 50 sheep, goats, and alpacas.
Youth program:annual collaboration with connecther in support of the connecther film festival (formly girls impact the world film festival) and the greenis environmental film award in which high school and undergraduate college students submit 3-5 minute short films that either propose solutions to environmental issues that impact women and girls, or create awareness about environmental issues that impact women and girls. Topics included climate change, green energy, water, pollution, garbage and waste reduction, bio-diversity, and other issues. Is Foundation were judges in the judges choice award and the greenis film award and participated in the virtual film festival.
Public outreach & education:provided information and programs to educate and engage supporters and to create public awareness of issues that are vital to isf's charitable mission. In 2021, isf provided social media postings to more than one million supporters via facebook, twitter, and instagram. The isf website currently provided information and educational content, including new articles and access to the clean up program materials. United nations environment programme goodwill ambassadorship:isf's president and founder, Ian Somerhalder is designated as a united nations environment programme goodwill ambassador. Ian, in his role as a unep ambassador and as isf's president, collaborates with isf to support the un's various projects and initiatives throughout the year via social media with a large, world-wide audience.
