Program areas at Hmong American Farmers Association

The Hmong American Farmers Association (hafa) is a membership based non-profit organization created to advance the economic prosperity of Hmong American Farmers and their family through capacity building, strategic partnerships, cooperative endeavors, community engagement and advocacy. Programmatically, hafa focus its work on four area; land access where we manage and purchased in september of 2022, a 155 acre farm in dakota county, the first Hmong non-profit own farm that provides land tenure for current and future generation of Hmong Farmers and we also train and model sustainable growing methods and work with Farmers to explore innovated ways; financial assistance- train Farmers and their children on farm financials, generate farm business plan and help them access loan and federal financial assistant programs; training and research- train our Farmers on topics ranging from whole farm plan, soil health and soil fertility, perennial production, food safety practices and farm tractor and maintenance; alternative market- we aggregate produce from our farmer members to fulfill secure contracts with schools, coops and operate a community support agriculture (csa) program.
