Educational programs and communications:the Heritage Foundation ("thf or "The Foundation") hosts events and sponsors programs to educate government officials, The academic community, journalists, and The general public on topics ranging from The founding fathers and civil society to political philosophy and legal principles. In 2022, thf's events & public programing team produced 89 live and virtual public events, attracting 15,974 virtual and in-person attendees. Heritage's resource bank meeting convened over 400 conservative movement leaders, donors, and experts in policy research, civic engagement, and communication for three days of strategy sessions, collaboration, and educational programming. (continued on schedule o)thf's intern program hosted a total of 161 interns in a fully immersive work-study experience. 199 young professionals participated in thf's online educational series, The academy. There were 202 total participants in The spring and summer acadamy classes. Thf's government relations hosted 174 policy briefing events in 2022 with participation from multiple congressional offices. Participants included members of congress legislative staffers, communications directors, and chiefs of staff. Media. Government relations, and outreach:the Heritage Foundation distributes its research products to members of congress, congressional staff, policymakers in The executive branch of The federal government, state officials, journalists, members of The academic community, other non-profit organizations, The general public, and donors. The Heritage Foundation conducts hundreds of briefings for domestic and international officials, policymakers, experts, and lawmakers and their staff on issues ranging from federal spending and unfunded liabilities to homeland security, tax, and health policy. Thf delivered 25 congressional testimonies and 9 state legislative testimonies. (continued on schedule o) thf's analysts made over 6,400 radio, podcast, and television appearances in 2022 and earned over 1,200 op-ed placements in major print and online media outlets. Thf experts were quoted or mentioned over 5000 times in major publications. Thf conducted a new house member orientation which had 19 attendees and conducted 67 candidate briefings. Public policy research:the Heritage Foundation produces research papers annually, including issue briefs, blog posts, fact sheets, backgrounders, guides, and books addressing a broad range of economic, domestic, defense, foreign, and social policy issues. Thf published 58 issue briefs, 66 backgrounders, 27 legal memoranda, 15 factsheets and 12 special reports. These publications analyze both current public policies and alternative policy recommendations for substance and merit.
