Through communication, education, and community outreach, hhn strives to bring awareness of the often untreated injuries sustained in war and the need for our services. The tablets for Heroes program provides tablet computers to veterans of iraq and afghanistan who have sustained traumatic brain injuries (tbi) and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) while serving since 9/11/01. Symptoms associated with ptsd and tbi can include disorganization, forgetfulness, anger management issues, and disorientation. The tablets include 7 applications that serve as therapeutic programs, as well as coping and adaptability coaching applications. With the aid of portable computer tablets, they would have consistent access to an electronic schedule, cognitive assistance, and consistent access to various forms of wireless communications to stay in touch with family, caregivers, or medical professionals.
Welcome home hero is a program that is dedicated to supporting military service members and their families, in times of need and financial struggle. When a service member returns home from serving their country, the transition back into civilian life can be difficult and a struggle, not only on the service member, but for the family as a whole. Many service members face employment struggles due to combat injuries they have sustained. Welcome home hero provides assistance for these service members and their families in receiving productive life and rehabilitative assistance. We help our country's service members overcome many of their transition obstacles by providing financial assistance for basic needs, such as food, clothing, utilities, rent and many other life necessities.
By visiting homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the community, Healing Heroes Network provides many donated gifts and goods to homeless veterans through community outreach.
