Program areas at Global Heritage Fund
Global Heritage Fund's educational travel program in morocco gave travellers an opportunity for educational, expert-led daily excursions to historic sites to enrich visitor understanding and appreciation of morocco's ancient Heritage. Travelers explored centuries-old granaries, discovered remnants of legendary caravan routes, and meet with local communities safeguarding their unique histories and traditions.
Global Heritage Fund is committed to preserving, protecting, and promoting the priceless cultural Heritage of the world, and a primary component of that mission is educating the public about the importance of cultural Heritage. Ghf does this through a variety of media including email, website, paid search, print, and events.
Global Heritage Fund's efforts in dali focused first on preserving built elements. Our documentation survey covered 30 historic structures. Following completion of a master plan for conservation, we advised the government on the preservation of dali's drum tower and other pivotal structures, as well as surrounding landscapes. Global Heritage Fund provided seed funding and teamed up with beijing's atlas studio who spearheaded product development for dali artisans, a cooperative established to adapt the local women's indigo dye cotton into contemporary homewares and clothing, thereby keeping their textile traditions alive. The goals of this innovative Heritage initiative are two-fold, to provide sustainable economic opportunity for the women of dali while creating a unique eco-tourism asset that responds to urban china's growing interest in what was previously written off as "back country."
Global Heritage Fund's programs confront the most vexing problems facing our planet by centering its work around five key themes: economic opportunity, environmental impact, community transformation, innovation, and impactful travel.
