Fit Nation Foundation

The organization conducted "run for something better" programs in Miami, fl and atlanta, ga. The program in Miami was a 15 week program coordinated with the public school system. The programs were directed at the middle school children in the county's public school system. The children ran a cumulative distance of 25 miles led by their school coaches and then ran the final mile at the actual ing Miami marathon. Throughout the program, Fit Nation representatives met with the school children and talked to them on topics such as goals, fitness, etc. On race day the children receive free transportation from the school to the race site, free participant t-shirts, finisher medals and snacks at the race. They get the chance to experience what it is to finish as a marathoner and to have achieved a great fitness goal. Over 11,000 children participated in the program in Miami. The race day activities are considered to be the largest children's race of over one mile in the u.s.
