Program areas at First Generation Farmers
Beginning farmer training - fgf educated and guides beginning Farmers through the challenges of becoming a local organic farmer by providing affordable access to land, infrastructure, housing, training, equipment and facilitates sustainable farming infrastructure and community equity in bay area communities.
Education - fgf serves the bay area communities by teaching adults and children the importance of local organic agriculture and conservation of natural resources through presentations, public speaking, afterschool programs, workshops, summer camps, field trips, off-site educational events, tours and community events.
Food access - fgf brings fresh and healthy organic produce to disadvantaged communities in the bay area by serving up to 8 weekly Farmers markets on an honor principle pricing model, maintaining an honor farm stand, providing produce to other nonprofit food distribution efforts and donating to food banks' community events.
