Disaster relief:fashion delivers charitable foundation inc. was created from the fashion community in an effort to help disaster survivors. After the immediate response calls for food, shelter and medical care from other nonprofits and government agencies we work with companies and our local agency partners to deliver apparel and home goods that help survivors as they return to a more normal life. Fashion delivers had a "call for action" for the tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires and flooding in the u.s such as hurricane sandy, midwest tornedos, wildfires.
People in need:domestic abuse:women in the united states experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults every year. Fashion delivers supports agencies and shelters that provide a safe place for survivors as they work through the trauma of domestic violence. Young women, low-income women and some minorities are disproportionately the victims of domestic violence and rape. Our donations to the abuse and recovery centers provide the women with one less burden, allowing them to focus on creating a stable, violence-free life for themselves. Major illness:treating a major illness can take a financial and emotional toll on men, women and families. Some of the agencies in our network specifically support people dealing with long term or life-threatening illness. The ronald mcdonald house in new york city houses patients and their family members during lengthy and challenging treatments. We recently provided them with family apparel for a no-cost "store" open to the residents. When agency clients receive new clothing and home fashions from us, it lifts their spirits and helps them put their energy and attention towards vital needs like treatment and family support.
People in need:poverty: the donation of new products fills a critical need and helps community agencies direct limited resources and other services they provide. Our ability to enhance the quality of life of individuals with new clothes, shoes or home items helps renew their pride and self-esteem.military service:for the enlisted ranks of our military, getting by and raising a family on limited salaries is even more challenging with the stress of deployment and active duty during wartime. We work with operation homefront and the uso to help soldiers and their families with apparel and home furnishing that eases the burden. Workforce re-entry:interviewing for a job can be hard enough without worrying if your clothes will keep you from getting employed. Fashion delivers works with a range of agencies around the country that help men and women get jobs to become self-sufficient. These programs offer counseling, job training and interviewing skills.
