Program areas at Death Valley Conservancy
Death Valley fund - to support projects around the park and in conjunction with the national park service. For 2022, projects include:the dvc's "Death Valley fund" (dvf) funded an nps requested condition re-assessment of the last surviving set of historic Death Valley 20-mule team borax wagons that are on display at harmony borax works in the park for preservation planning purposes as well as emergency stabilization work by harpers ferry. ($70,592) the dvf hosts a vr visitor site of scotty's castle and funded the nps castle flood recovery visitor exhibit. ($14,700)the dvf continues to host with the nps our "park partners" event at the furnace creek inn, a gathering of nps, government leaders, npo staff, business and other community leaders with connections to dv natl park. The dvc continued support of our community partner, the laws museum, with the addition of a large photo mural background display for the 20-mule team wagon exhibit barn, based on a 1936 historic image. The dvc produced and maintains a functioning set of reproductions of the 1880's era world-famous 20 mule team Death Valley borax wagons for use in demonstrations, parades, and living history displays and education.the 20-mule team and our reproduction Death Valley wagons appear in the annual nationally acclaimed "mule days" celebrations in bishop, ca. In partnership with the "laws museum and the "american mule museum", where the wagons are on permanent public display when not out at events.
Ryan camp: preservation, maintenance, and interpretation of the historical mining camp of ryan, ca. To restore and use it for education and a research facility. During 2022, the organization also spent $218,564 to develop and build assets related to ryan camp, including a major preservation and restoration of the church/rec.
