Program areas at The Bronx Museum of the Arts
The Museum's exhibitions were accompanied by gallery tours conducted by artists, curators and educators; film screenings; workshops; artist discussions and panels; readings and performances. Following the onset of COVID-19 and the curtailment of the Museum's regular exhibition programming in late March, these activities were replaced by a series of online, virtual programs and community activities. During fiscal year 2022, the Museum presented the following exhibitions: Useless: Machines for Dreaming, Thinking and Seeing; The Life and Times of Alvin Baltrop; Henry Chalfant: Art vs Traffic, 1977-1987; and Jose Parla: It's Yours.
Ongoing education programs included The group visits program; family affair; teen summer program; school partnerships with ps 73 and is 218; and after-school programs such as teen council, The casa program with ps 73, and teen thursdays. Through The city-wide art a catalyst for change anti-gun violence initiative, four after-school programs continued with local public schools: i.s. 218, ms 301, ms 22, and school for excellence high school.
