Channel One food bank: provides food and non food product to approximately 183 programs provided by approximately 110 nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies that feed people as part of their program services mission. Channel One food shelf a choice food shelf offering indoor shoppingand delivery to eligible individuals and households. The food shelf follows Minnesota's tefap (the emergency food assistance program) eligibility and registration guidelines. Approximately 6,569 and 5,444 unique households were served for the years ended june 30, 2022 and 2021, respectively. In total, there were 52,237 and 30,305 household visits to the food shelf for the years ended june 30, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
Commodity supplemental food program (csfp) provides nutritionally balanced, supplemental federal government commodity food packages to income eligible senior citizens on a monthly basis. Channel One distributes this program throughout the 13-county service area in Minnesota. In total, Channel One distributed 9,510 and 11,943 packages for the years ended june 30, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
Backpack program during the school year, Channel One provides childfriendly food to 29 elementary and middle schools in olmsted county.the schools then hand out the backpacks to qualified children eachfriday. Program qualification is identified by the schools. For the yearsended june 30, 2022 and 2021, Channel One distributed 26,228 and109,912 pounds of food to approximately 900 and 1,711 students in need,respectively.
Mobile pantry program every month food is delivered directly to communities in se Minnesota and la crosse county Wisconsin with few, if any food shelves, limited transportation and high food insecurity rates. Mobile food pantries distributed 285,455 and 614,469 pounds of food tolow income individuals and families in need of food assistance for the years ended june 30, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
Minnesota central kitchen - Minnesota central kitchen is an initiative that was originally developed by the twin cities' food bank, second harvest heartland, to provide restaurant-prepared meals to those facing food insecurity. Second harvest and Channel One were awarded a grant from feeding america to scale the prepared meals program to the rochester market. Channel One began providing mck meals in its service area in october of 2021. With the expansion of Minnesota central kitchen to rochester, Channel One regional food bank pairs its ability to source donated and rescued food with restaurants' expertise in food preparation to fill a crucial need. Minnesota central kitchen harnesses the power of the food bank to bring nutritious, prepared meals to those facing the greatest need, with a priority placed on communities of color. During fiscal year 2022, in partnership with its restaurant and distribution partners Channel One distributed 47,986 meals.
