Program areas at Center for New Community

The Organization's main program, Defending Democracy, works with advocacy groups at the local, state and national level to support and strengthen coalitions dedicated to the civil rights of immigrants and communities of color. The Organization addresses threats to the democratic community, with a particular focus on nativist activity utilizing the following program model: * Track, monitor and document the rhetoric, strategies, funding sources and trends within organized racist groups in the U.S. * Equip organizers and community leaders with knowledge and skills that strengthen theircapacity to counter organized bigotry. * Develop strong relationships and communication channels; build alliances and coalitions;mobilize partners to expose and counter organized racism. * Deploy targeted outreach and education to the general public, journalists and policymakers to expose the messages and tactics of organized racist groups.
