Program areas at Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Greater Columbia

The organization recruits volunteers to serve as Big Brothers or Big Sisters to youth ages 6-18. In 2017, bbbsgc served 163 children through one-to-one mentioring. Bbbsgc continued to increase service to children of hispanic immigrants and children with active military parent/guardians through the site-based mentoring programs. Children served experience an increase in their educational success as evidenced by a 60.6% increase in improved grades and a 59.4% increase in scholastic competency. They also experienced a 59.4% improvement in social acceptance and a 57.6% increase in improved school attendance.
