Program areas at Arthritis Foundation Great Lakes Region
Public Health Education: We ensure that all people with arthritis and related conditions and their family members have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to be proactive in improving their health, including a robust website (www.arthritis.org). We offer evidence-based Programs for Better Living, including exercise programs that have been shown to have significant benefits including arthritis pain reduction, improved mobility, balance and flexibility as well as decreased depression. We serve populations that have experienced disparities in health and health care. We influence public policies and strategies to produce better outcomes for people with arthritis and related conditions.
Peer-reviewed research: We support a peer-reviewed research grant program that funds arthritis researchers, investigators, physicians, and scientists seeking medical breakthroughs leading to better arthritis treatments and therapies that improve patients' lives.
Patient and Community Services (Consumer Health): We offer educational programs and series that promote in-depth learning about arthritis leading to improved self-management skills and pain management.
