Program areas at Arcadia Improvement Association
Communications committee's purpose is to outreach to the community and market the downtown Arcadia district. These are the activities conducted during 2022,second annual local heroes award - virtual event held via zoom. Twelve businesses/organizations were recognized for their donations and/or volunteerism to benefit the local communitydowntown Arcadia Improvement Association celebrated their mascot's, perdy peacock's, first birthday! Solicited for canned food as presents for perdy to donate to our local foodbank, foothill unity center which supports the local neighbors in need.disseminated to downtown Arcadia businesses information regarding the city of Arcadia's small business program grants to help them apply and receive grants to assist businesses with signage and marketing.beacon media awards. We nominated district businesses for reader's favorite awards which resulted in 42 district businesses being honored. This program promoted the district and businesses which made for compelling social media storiespatriotic festival and fireworks complete with food trucks and giveaways. This event was free and open to the community. Over 20,000 attendees shopped and discovered the downtown area. 40 volunteers helped make this event a success.held a trick or treat event, halloween haunting, with a trunk or treat parking lot for the community. Over 6,500 people attended this completely free event that benefited the community and local businesses. Many attendees discoverd and shopped at district businesses while attending the event. 65 volunteers helped make the event a success.conducted a holiday fair with entertainment, food trucks, giveaways and a toy drive. The toy drive benefitted foothill unity center, a local food bank. Over 8,500 attendees shopped and discovered the downtown district. 127 volunteers helped make this event a success.conducted business outreach regarding homelessness in downtown Arcadia to benefit the community and help the businesses with this issue.joined the city of Arcadia's broadband ad hoc committee to help select a consultant to conduct a comprehensive broadband study to improve broadband services to the local business community
Lights in district treeslights were installed in 20 trees on first avenue during 2021. This capital project has been years in the making. The programming of the lights have been updated. The light fixtures have been serviced and repaired. The beneficiaries of this project are the residents, businesses and visitors to the area.
