Program areas at American Legion - 0010 Joe Quesenberry
Among American Legion members, there is no rank or prejudice, only purpose. A veteran is a veteran. The purpose of veterans in the American Legion is to strengthen the united states of america through programs, services, compassion and actions that have proven vital, timeless and life-changing for over a century. Our 2022 accomplishments are: 1) we make our facility available to other veteran organizations such as disabled American veterans, purple heart, marine corps league, vietnam veterans of america and the vet center free of charge; 2) hosting of a Post traumatic stress disorder group at the Post twice a month; 3) provided a free hearty breakfast to over 300 veteran motorcycle riders who travel to the vietnam memorial; 4) clean up of the city of las cruces veterans memorial park; 5) participate in the raising and lowering of the garrison flag flown at the park on special patriotic days; 6) participate in the annual homeless veteran standdown providing those less fortunate veterans with food, clothing, hygiene items, counseling and medical care; 7) provides free social gatherings for all members every month; and 8) assistance to an average of three veterans each month in filing their claims to the verterans administration.
Post 10 has generously given donation to those in need as follows: 1) American Legion departments of Kentucky and Mississippi folowing devasting tornado damage and loss of life; 2) honor flight of southern new mexico and el paso who take veterans to visit their memorials in Washington dc free of charge; 3) American Legion children and youth program, oratorical program, boys and gorls state and the fisher house; 4) contributions to the welfare of active-duty military and their familes on white sands missle range by sponsoring meals for serveral members; 5) stare veterans home in truth or consequences, nm for needed improvements; 6) legacy scholarship of $1,000: 7) and other financial support to the vietnam veterans of anerica, order of the purple heat, unity military women of the southwest, American Legion department of new mexico and other nm posts who soliciated support.
