Program areas at Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association Desert Southwest Chapter

During the period of july 1, 2015 through june 30, 2016, the Alzheimer's association Desert Southwest Chapter served over 20,000 families in Arizona and southern Nevada directly through its core programs. It is conservatively estimated that an additional 10,000 - 20,000 individuals were indirectly assisted through information and educational materials provided to professionals and others in the community. The helpline program served 3,613 unduplicated callers through 4,802 contacts. A total of 1,729 cases were served by the family care consultation program, through 6,329 contacts and 3,774 case management staff hours. Ninety support groups were operated by the Chapter, with 1,420 group sessions, 8,570 contacts for 1,698 unduplicated individuals. 821 education program sessions were conducted reaching 12,696 people, through sessions focused on the building awareness in the community-at-large, education on Disease progression and caregiving for persons with dementia and their care partners and families, and training for professionals. The education program includes carepro, an evidence-based intensive 10-week intervention for caregivers. The medicalert + safe return program registered 261 new persons with Alzheimer's Disease. 493 first responders were trained about alzheimer's. The early stage program provided 2,897 contacts for people living with Alzheimer's and their care partners.
