The Alzheimer's Association Central New York Chapter, provides core services to assist caregivers and individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or Related dementia.these services include:information and referral: a 24-hour helpline service is provided. During 2015 - 2016, 2,008 individuals called the helpline for services. Care consultations assist persons with dementia and their families to solve immediate problems and plan for the future. 404 meetings took place.support groups: these groups meet regularly to provide educational information and social support to individuals with the Disease and persons who care for someone with Alzheimer's Disease. 27 groups and 1 early stage groups met during 2015 - 2016 with 1,489 attendees at group meetings. (502 unduplicated attendees)education and training: trainings for caregivers, individuals with Alzheimer's Disease, professional and the general public were provided on a variety of topics including understanding the Disease, research, diagnosis, caregiver techniques, and risk factors. 351 program events took place during 2015 - 2016 reaching 6,516 individuals.
Kirkpatrick day program is a social-model adult day program that specializes in the care of persons with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. The program is located at the syracuse Chapter office. The program provides caregivers the respite they need while insuring a safe and therapeutic environment for persons with dementia or Alzheimer's Disease.
