Program areas at Work Training Center for the Handicapped
Day Program - WTC operated four day programs, 2 each in Chico, and Oroville, California. These programs provide learning opportunities, activities that involve community-based outings, and specialized physical therapy for more significantly challenged clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities.Independent Living Services - As a purchased service by the Regional Center, WTC provides operational living support services that allow higher functioning individuals with a developmental disability to continue to live in their home and experience many community-based activities. These services are provided on a one-to-one basis based upon a defined number of hours authorized on a monthly basis by the Regional Center.Community Employment Services - Working one-on-one with clients who express an interest in working in their community, the WTC operates a job development and search operation to identify and place individuals in jobs in their local communities.During the 2021-2022 Fiscal period, these programs supported between 250 to 300 individuals towards independence and meaningful contributions to the community.
Transportation Services - Operating under contract to the Regional Center, WTC provides transportation services to pick up and deliver clients from their places of abode to the various programs of WTC employment or activities.
Work Activity Program - WTC provides work activities for higher functioning clients in the areas of landscape maintenance, recycling operations, and janitorial services. Operating either individually, or in crews, the clients fulfill contract opportunities to provide these services to local businesses and the public.During the 2021-2022 Fiscal period, these programs supported between 15 and 20 individuals towards independence and meaningful contributions to the community.
