Program areas at Western Pennsylvania Golf Association
Handicap administration is the complete management of the usga handicap system for member clubs. Activities include course measuring/ratings, and the administration of ghin, the usga's Golf handicap & information network. Ghin activities are development of the handicap revision schedule, servicing computers the Association provides member clubs for handicapping, assisting and training club employees, troubleshooting, and work with the tournament management product (tmp), which member clubs use to run their events. The Association also provides tmp supplies to member clubs such as score cards and cart signs.
Other - the Association provides various membership services and networking opportunities with the club rep day and annual meeting outings. Seminars on club operations, rules of Golf, handicapping and other topics also take place. Publications include a member club directory and club operations study. Task committees in addition to championship, membership, and handicapping include green and junior. Administrative committees include audit & finance, governance, marketing, and nominating.
Championships - the Association was founded in 1899 to conduct the west penn open and west penn amateur. The championship program is 24 separate competitions involving 35 days per year. The Association conducts individual events, usga qualifying rounds, partners competitions such as the father & son, and competitions with other Golf associations.
