Program areas at Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania
In 2022 vlp provided employment services to 642 Veterans: 57 Veterans through its job training and placement Program, providing free employment services that include resume assistance, interview techniques, networking training, individualized job search plans, and career counseling; 585 Veterans in obtaining unsubsidized, meaningful employment through the dol's hvrp Program.
In 2022 vlp provided supportive services to 3,620 Veterans and their family members: 612 Veterans and families assisted with homeless prevention; 388 tax returns; 165 Veterans with soar benefits and other forms of disability assistance; 34 Veterans involved in the criminal justice system with supportive services and assistance through vlp's participation in veteran courts in allegheny, beaver, and fayette counties and the Western Pennsylvania district federal Veterans court; 5 Veterans and families assisted with home repairs; 2,416 Veterans with care coordination services.
In 2022 vlp provided housing services to 1,183 Veterans and their 363 dependents: 731 veteran households with homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services through the va's ssvf Program - vlp is 1 of only 4 agencies in Western Pennsylvania that is granted to serve Veterans in 28 counties through the ssvf Program; 80 veteran households through 2 hud housing programs in the allegheny county coc (pa-600); 200 veteran households emergency housing services through the va's gpd Program; 172 veteran households emergency housing services through the united way of southwestern Pennsylvania.
In 2022 vlp engaged with and/or provided wellness services to 2,934 Veterans, their families, and their supporters: 2,607 Veterans and families provided food distributions; 110 Veterans and veteran-supporters in numerous physical activities throughout the year including cycling, hiking, running, yoga, and crossfit; 217 Veterans engaged in stand down pittsburgh.
