Program areas at The Long Now Foundation
The interval - a compelling venue for conversation that invites vistors to spend time in a place that itself encourages Long term thinking. The interval is a bar, cafe, museum and home of The Long Now Foundation. Featuring a floor-to-ceiling library of books you might need to rebuild civilization, mechanical prototypes for a clock meant to last for 10,000 years, and a time-inspired menu of artisan drinks.
Membership - The Long Now Foundation's membership program connects more than 11,000 long-term thinkers across more than 65 countries. Our global membership receives regular updates on key ideas around long-term thinking through our frequent talks, original writing and monthly newsletter, as well as special invitations to online video lectures and in-person gatherings. Each member also receives an etched stainless steel membership card featuring their unique member number. The Long Now membership program provides substantial financial support to the organization, its activities, and its programs.
Talks - The Long Now Foundation's monthly talks were started in 2003 to build a compelling body of ideas about long-term thinking from speakers around The world. These talks are part of our library of work which encourages thinking at The timescale of civilization. Talks sponsorhips, included in part viii line 1f, support The live and online seminar events, as well as our highly produced videos and podcasts which are available to The public. Long Now was not able to hold in-person live events for most of 2021 due to covid-19. In 2020, we shifted to creating high-production value online seminars, and continued to hold online talks along with live events as Long Now was able to resume them in 2021 and 2022.
