Nursing: the nursing program had remained consistent, with students in the entire major averaging about 26 students. We did experience a drop in student numbers within the nursing core courses as they moved from fall to spring. Enrollment went from five in the fall to four in the spring for core nursing courses, with three students admitted to the program for fall 2023. There is one student that graduated from the practical nursing program spring 2023.this year we were able to secure a lab tech with medical and technical knowledge. This has greatly improved the simulation and lab experiences. The division wishes to continue this contract yearly to provide a better experience for students. The division has also requested the ability to set up another lab at the mobridge campus as the sd board of nursing approved our request to have a lab at the mobridge site. With the addition of the hybrid courses, an online faculty member has been hired. They bring with them a wealth of online experience. We continue to have a need of adjunct theory instructors for on campus, which is filled. As well as adjunct clinical instructors, which has also been secured for the upcoming year. The department expects to explore a possibility of a full-time clinical instructor in addition to the two adjuncts if enrollment in the hybrid courses increases. North dakota board of nursingthe Sitting Bull College nursing program has full accreditation through january 2025. The director sent a program notification of the plan to implement hybrid courses in the fall. This would entail theory courses being attended either on campus, online (asynchronously or virtually (synchronously). Lab and clinical will remain for the most part face to face with an occasional virtual clinical or lab. The board reported no additional action was required at this time for this additional method of delivery. However, if the enrollment exceeds 25% of what the current enrollment has been, a program change notification would need to be submitted. South dakota board of nursing the director met with the sd bon last summer to seek approval to use the mobridge site as a lab site, this request was approved.general studiesthe bachelor of science in general studies program had three graduates for the 2022-2023 academic year, and an additional student has only two courses to finish. Fa-22 there were 10 students in the degree program; in sp-23 there were 10 students enrolled in the bachelor's program (duplicated). Advisors try to counsel students to other bachelor's programs since a general studies degree does not clearly align with the job market but allows students to easily transition to graduate studies. At the end of this semester, one gs:bs advisee moved into majoring in native american studies after taking a native american literature course.the associate of arts in general studies graduated 11 students in 2022-2023. Fa-22 there were 64 students in the associate degree program and sp-23 there were 57 enrolled (duplicated), all of whom are advised by two different advisors. As advisors, we try to have students major in another degree plan by the end of their 2nd semester. Please note that many freshmen entering the institution will select general studies as their major. Two general studies graduates also graduated with an associate of science in environmental science and both student plan to pursue the environmental science bachelor program. One general studies graduate is transitioning to the bachelor of social work. All students in the bachelor of science in general studies degree program take a hum 497 capstone course for one credit during the final year of their program to gather assessment data. The faculty of record for this class delivers the course independent study on mysbc. The program offers four options for the final project: 1) research; 2) digital storytelling; 3) grant writing; 4) lesson planning - with a student presentation of project findings to a 3-member faculty panel. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the faculty panel suggested other leadership projects, such as service learning or digital storytelling projects. This will eliminate a rushed research project.the aa general studies degree added a one-credit capstone course in 2016 to help assist in gathering assessment data. The sp-23 capstone students resumed the service-learning project (changed in previous years due to covid-19). Although the winter proved to be a challenge in completing hours, students felt the service learning was a pivotal end to their associate's studies. Students in the program also self-assess midway through the program to gather data for assessment. The program continues to monitor what students do after completing the aa:gs and bs:gs degrees. One graduate with the bs:gs degree from this year moved into an accounting position at the local casino due to the extensive business courses taken during the program. The student is considering applying for the master of business administration program at sbc. One bs:gs graduate is considering pursuing a master of social work graduate program. One bs:gs graduate was offered a new position in a local community to develop more programming for parks and recreation. One aa:gs graduate has applied to bachelor program(s) in exercise science at northern state, university of south dakota, and south dakota state university. One aa:gs graduate will pursue a bachelor of social work degree at Sitting Bull collegetwo aa:gs graduates will pursue a bachelor of science in environmental science degree at Sitting Bull College one aa:gs graduate will continue to take trades certificates at Sitting Bull College with the idea of transitioning into a business degree. One aa:gs graduate will focus studies on criminal justice at Sitting Bull collegeone aa:gs graduate will study business administration at Sitting Bull College after taking part in the aibl club. One aa:gs graduate will pursue it and cybersecurity at Sitting Bull College. Education: enrollment was 39 (fall) and 35 (spring) students in five of six programs. Six students in as in early childhood, seven in as teacher education, four bs in elementary education, three in bs in early childhood teaching, zero in bs in secondary science. 15 students in med. Curriculum and instruction (12 of those were one credit only). The program has incorporate google classroom into coursework as many schools use this as a lms for their students. When the final report from the espb accreditation visit is completed and sent to us, we will use those recommendations to share improvement and changes to programs and assessment plans. Continue to review programs to link to caep standards and incorporate exit and employer surveys into program assessment plan to help strengthen current programs. A data collection system is still needed and was recommended by espb during last spring evaluation to electronically collect, store and analyze assessment data. Excel spreadsheets were approved but would like something in place within 2 years. Over the summer, instructors will meet to review courses and student information on the online/hybrid format to see what was successful and where challenges still exist. Review assessment plans to include more assessment documents outside of the internship and student teaching experiences.rework lesson plan rubric and format. Many schools are going to electronic lesson plans so look into incorporating these into the department as well. Continue exposure to language and culture in order to incorporate it in their lessons and activities.
