Program areas at One Tail at A Time NFP
In 2022, One Tail at A Time, NFP ("One Tail") continued to expand missions focused on animal rescue and care across chicago's communities. A total of 2028 animals were rescued, with 1919 adoptions across all categories (dogs, cats, and critters). Our clinic, the ellis veterinary clinic, performed 1017 surgeries in-house. Notably, in november the One Tail community welcomed 14 beagles who had spent their entire lives inside of A laboratory, used for medical testing. For years, they had only been known by the numbers tattooed on the inside of their ears. One Tail was able to offer them retirement from this fate, and A chance at A full, enriching life as A cherished pet and family member. (continued on sch o)their amazingly dedicated foster homes watched patiently as the dogs adapted to life outside the walls of the lab. They had many firsts: first Time touching grass, first couch snuggles, first pup cups. The original 14 lab beagles found their forever homes and our team continues to support more groups of beagles in their retirement journeys.our commitment to compassion extended to new heights. Collaborating with our community partners, pet mutual aid distributed over 110,000 meals to pets and people in need, vaccinated 1,914 pets, and performed 442 spay/neuter procedures. Our pet and people pantries provided supplies, support, and nourishment to more than 4,253 community owned pets.further, our crisp program supported 226 pets. Crisp supports pet parents who find themselves experiencing financial hardship and at risk of surrendering their beloved animal. By providing medical care and support resources, crisp aids in keeping pets out of shelters and at home with the families that love them.
