Restoration & recreation. Myrwa uses science and advocacy to protect water quality, restore important habitat including for River herring, build climate resilience across the Watershed and connect 25 miles of paths and improve six parks in our Watershed. From building new parks, to piloting green infrastructure in partnership with our municipalities-these efforts protect both people and places.
Climate resiliency. Myrwa founded the resilient Mystic collaborative in partnership with 20 municipal partners to develop regional projects that create healthier, and more climate resilient communities. The rmc communities have secured >50m earmarks and state grants to address stormwater flooding, urban heat islands and sea-level rise.
Education and volunteer stewardship. Myrwa educates more than 2,000 youth through effective place-based programming in schools and after-school programs and engages 1,800 volunteers in cleaning up and caring for our parks.
