Education & Advocacy - Public Policy: In 2022, MoveOn members channeled their voices to take collective action and challenge the status quo. Together, MoveOn members signed and delivered petitions, participated in lobby visits, wrote tens of thousands of letters, made tens of thousands of calls, and confronted senators at their offices, in airports, and on Capitol Hill. MoveOn's biggest legislative advocacy focus in 2022 was working to shape and help pass a popular and progressive domestic policy agenda, both through MoveOn's direct work and in partnership with the coalition campaign Real Recovery Now, co-chaired by MoveOn. MoveOn focused on accountability and advocacy to promote the passage of the boldest climate and infrastructure and jobs bills in a half-century. This work culminated in the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in August 2022.
Education & Advocacy - Foreign Policy: In February 2022, MoveOn members stepped up in meaningful ways in support of the Ukrainian people as Russia's unprovoked war continues. Together, MoveOn members raised more than $1.1 million for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, supported the push for diplomacy over militarism, and showed our solidarity with the Ukrainian people. In addition to financial support, we tapped into high-energy moments to engage our full membership on foreign policy issues through our wide-reaching social channels and petition platforms. More than 165,000 people signed a petition demonstrating support for the people of Ukraine. More than 40,000 called on media companies to show real coverage of the Iranian uprising amid a media blackout. And more than 20,000 people demanded action to restore the Puerto Rico power grid.
Education & Advocacy - Reproductive Rights: In May and June, MoveOn partnered with our reproductive rights allies to mobilize support for abortion care access. Following the unprecedented leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court decision, MoveOn and its coalition partners mobilized tens of thousands of people to show up for rapid-response rallies in cities across the country. After the decision was finalized, MoveOn organized additional rapid-response rallies and mobilizations, engaging millions of people across the country. In tandem with this work, MoveOn also helped raise over $145,000 for abortion funds.
