Program areas at HCS

Residential Services - over 400 people live in community-based certified homes operated by Heritage Christian Services, where they are supported 24 hours a day by a compassionate, highly trained staff. Agency nurses are also available around the clock, and an hcs staff member schedules and attends all medical appointments to ensure proper communication and to follow up on any medical concerns. Hcs believes in supporting the whole person - body, mind and spirit - and offers opportunities for people to grow in all of those areas. The agency welcomes people of all faiths and makes sure people have the opportunity to attend places of worship, volunteer for causes they believe in and become part of the larger community.
Day habilitation - hcs day programs offer people the chance to spend their days learning new skills and sharing their talents, like offering tours to school children at springdale farm or delivering meals to the elderly. Instead of busy work, participants are involved in the community. They are developing skills and enjoying some recreational time. 394 people were served.
Self direction (fiscal intermediary)-as medicaid continues to change, people will have the option of choosing what supports are most important and which agency they would like to work with. Hcs has already built the infrastructure for the new way medicaid will be doing business with agencies. In fact, hcs supports more than 1200 people with self directed plans/budgets, and just surpassed the 750 mark on the number of self-hire employees. That is, in part, thanks to investing in seven full time brokers and employing the only master broker trainer for the finger lakes region.for people exploring options other than a traditional group home or day habilitation setting, the agency offers customized options where people choose who they would like to live with if anyone and select the supports they would like to have in their home.
Expressive beginnings child care centers (ebcc) - offers child care in a unique family environment using a highly regarded learning curriculum. Ebcc serves children through age 12, offering infant and toddler care, preschool, pre-kindergarten, full-day kindergarten, wrap around care and a school-age summer program.
Community habilitation offers people the chance to receive individualized support in their homes and at places they like to visit. The person and their staff work together to plan what the day should look like. Choices and flexibility are the hallmarks of our community habilitation experience. The schedule is determined by the person receiving Services and what matters most to them. Support can be provided for a few hours each week or for full days (based on opwdd approval). Community habilitation supports are typically provided one-to-one, so relationships matter.
Respite Services- the respite programs at Heritage Christian Services offer short-term care for children and adults with specials need. Families, especially those waiting on residential placement, get the gift of free time while their loved ones get practice at staying away from home. Heritage Christian Services can also send staff to private homes to provide respite for a few hours. Served 125 individuals.
Customized residential options-non-certified residential settings that offer individualized Services to individuals in the community through community habilitation, individual support and Services and consolidated support Services. These settings may or may not be owned by Heritage Christian Services
