Program areas at Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary
Adoption: Happily Ever After's (hea) adoption program was again very beneficial to companion animals who were at risk of losing their lives. In 2022, 685 dogs and cats found families through hea's program. While maintaining extremely high adoption qualification standards, hea's objective is to avoid post-adoption returns and the associated reuse of companion Animal welfare funding. In 2022, less than 5% of adoptions resulted in an Animal being returned to hea. Spay/neuter: hea invested heavily in its spay/neuter efforts during 2022 by funding and/or facilitating 1,363 surgeries. These efforts included the spaying of 647 female cats. This is significant because it prevents more than 44,000 kittens (conservatively) from being born over the next (4) years. This program grew its total surgery count by 121% over 2021. Similarly, the number of spayed female cats served through this program increased by 121% compared to 2021.rehabilitation & lifetime care: as of december 31, 2022, 18% of the dogs and cats at hea were members of hea's rehabilitation and lifetime care programs.
