Program areas at Girl Scouts of Central Illinois

Girl Scouts of Central Illinois engaged over 9,800 girls and 2,400 adults in the Girl scout leadership experience. Throughout the council this leadership development program is delivered through five service centers and three adventure camps. Girl-led and collaborative, the Girl scout leadership experience employs hands-on activities creating high-quality experience conducive to learning and develop.
Girl scout camp helps girls develop important life skills and positive characteristics. The majority of Girl scout camp alums say their camp experience was Central to the development of their sense of self, positive values, challenge seeking skills, healthy relationships, and leadership skills. Across three camps, over 1,000 girls gained these valuable skills and experiences. Each camp location hosted roughly 200 - 500 visitors including Girl Scouts and community members seeking adventure and accommodation.
Over 2,900 school-age girls received Girl scout programming through values-driven curriculum with real-world application delivered in direct collaboration with area schools and community partners. Traditional, council-sponsored programming engaged an additional 6,900 girls, who developed vital skills in the four foundational areas of the Girl scout leadership experience - stem (science, technology, engineering, and math), the outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship. In fact, almost 4,900 girls developed financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills through our product sales program, while almost 50 girls explored stem subjects at the 4th annual g.i.r.lGirl.r.l. Steminar.
We partner with a multitude of community partners throughout the year to deliver our Girl scout leadership experience program to all girls. Along with press releases to local media outlets, we reach through extensive social media channels, a current website and fun and engaging social media live posts and contests. Our popular web page visits are volunteer toolkit, Girl Scouts at home, Girl scout events calendar and the Girl scout patch program.
