Program areas at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

Exhibition of Livestock and farm products to the public in order to encourage and promote the breeding, raising, and marketing of better cattle and agricultural products. Each year the Stock Show organizes and administrates a world class Stock Show event composed of various public competitions, exhibitions and entertainment such that the event enhances interest and encourages participation in the Livestock and agri-business field by recognizing and rewarding outstanding achievement in them. The event attracts as many visitors as possible from throughout the state, across the nation and around the world to Fort Worth, the city of this Stock Show's historic origin in 1896. In the current year, the Stock Show attendance was over 1.27 million people.
In support of our mission, the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show is committed to advancing the education of adults and youth alike by providing learning opportunities and providing scholarship opportunities for the youth of Texas. In addition to providing educational grants and contributions to various charitable organizations, the Stock Show maintains a variety of scholarship programs through various Stock Show departments. Each department is responsible for raising their scholarship funds each year and the scholarships are awarded by the various department superintendants based on department specific goals. The scholarships are paid out by the Stock Show directly to the college or university, on a semester basis, in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,000 per semester (based on total amount awarded and eight semesters of college) once enrollment has been verified each semester by the college or university of the recipient's choice. In addition to the Stock Show scholarship programs, the Stock Show supports several organizations and their existing scholarship programs. The Stock Show was able to provide over 500 scholarships and educational grants this year.
Improving and assisting the city of Fort Worth with the will rogers memorial center, the physical facilities in which the annual Stock Show events and its various activities are held and which are otherwise used for equestrian and Livestock events throughout the balance of the year. This assistance is to ensure the facilities continue to serve the needs of the people and the organizations using them, and to preserve their economic impact value as a major asset for the city of Fort Worth. All permanent improvements made to facilities by the Stock Show are to the benefit of and transferred to the city of Fort Worth. Since moving to the will rogers memorial center in 1944, the organization has made and transferred improvements to the city costing more than $77.3 million in current dollars.
