Workplace Safety initiative: the Electrical Safety Foundation International collects and compiles data to track trends in electrically related workplace injuries and fatalities. Data is presented to workplace Safety councils and associations to provide opportunities to change behaviors to reduce the number of workplace injuries and fatalities. Materials created based on emerging Safety trends are available for use for free on Esfi's website.
Surge protection: the Electrical Safety Foundation International promotes the importance of surge protective devices, a Safety device that is required in the national Electrical code. The use of surge protective devices can prevent downtime and damage of Electrical devices in commercial and industrial facilities, as well as in residential applications.
Safety month campaign: national Electrical Safety month is recognized by various state governors and serves as the largest nationwide campaign to promote the importance of Electrical Safety to the public by the Electrical Safety Foundation International. Many retailers, utilities, manufacturers, local governments, and community groups and advocates rely on national Electrical Safety month in may to educate their communities on the significant importance of proper use of electricity and electric systems.
Public awareness & pr: the Electrical Safety Foundation International creates free-to-use Electrical Safety materials for the residential and community market. Materials are based on the national Electrical code and focus on the Safety devices required by the code to prevent residential and community Electrical accidents and injuries. Materials are available for free and are used by community groups, utilities, and local governments.
Holiday Safety campaign: the Electrical Safety Foundation International creates and promotes materials focused on the unique Electrical hazards that occur during the winter holiday season. Materials include promoting the safe use of space heaters, Electrical Safety hazards during cooking, and home decorating Electrical Safety.
Education: the Electrical Safety Foundation International creates and promotes materials to educate children about the potential dangers of improper use of electricity. Materials include a free-to-use "kids corner" section of Esfi's website along with instructor, teacher, and parent-focused materials to teach children about Electrical Safety.
Tamper resistant receptacles: the Electrical Safety Foundation International promotes the importance of tamper resistant receptacles, a Safety device that is required in the national Electrical code. The use of tamper resistant receptacles prevents electric shocks and burns in children who insert foreign devices into Electrical receptacles. Tamper resistant receptacle materials are available for free on Esfi's website.
Arc fault circuit interrupters: the Electrical Safety Foundation International promotes the importance of arc-fault circuit interrupters, a Safety device that is required in the national Electrical code. Arc-fault circuit interrupters prevent common causes of Electrical fires. Arc-fault circuit interrupter materials are available for free on Esfi's website.
Fema assistance to firefighters: the Electrical Safety Foundation International works closely with fire departments, fire Safety groups, and the national fire protection association. Materials created with the assistance of fema, which were funded by the fire Safety and prevention grants, are available on Esfi's website. These materials focus on the prevention of Electrical fires.
Ground-fault circuit interrupters: the Electrical Safety Foundation International promotes the importance of ground-fault circuit interrupters, a Safety device that is required in the national Electrical code. Increased adoption and use of ground-fault circuit interrupters have resulted in an 81% drop in electrocutions. Ground-fault circuit interrupter materials are available for free on Esfi's website.
