Ascension Via Christi Health, Inc. works with the communities they serve in addressing their needs with their limited resources. Here are some of the ways in which Ascension Via Christi Health, Inc. Helps. Employees assist with: 1) fundraising for other area not-for-profits through the annual one community campaign (in partnership with united way), 2) saving lives through sponsoring blood drives in partnership with the american red cross, 3) cash donations to organizations and programs that are Health related 4) in-kind donations of time for various board, committees and councils. The financial information in this report was prepared in accordance with the catholic Health association's community benefit reporting guidelines. These guidelines recommend the following: 1) report charity care at cost, not charges, 2) do not include bad debt, contractual allowances and quick pay discounts as part of the charity care expense, 3) do not count medicare shortfall as a community benefit, and 4) report the net expense for community benefit services (e.g. The total community benefit expense minus any associated revenue from patients, payers and other external sources.)
